Regular September Meeting

September 18, 2006

The regular meeting of the Board of Education was called to order by President Terry Knoke at 7:00 p.m. on September 18, 2006. Members present: Mr. Bollin, Mr. Boyles, Mr. Knipe, Mr. Knoke, and Mrs. Snyder. Mr. Douglas arrived at 7:05 p.m. Mr. Schwan arrived at 7:10 p.m. Members absent: None. Mr. Young, Ms. Dennison and Mr. Ayer were also present.

A motion was made by Bollin, seconded by Douglas to close the regular session and go into the budget hearing at 7:06 p.m. Motion carried 6-Aye, 0-Nay, 1-Absent

A motion was made by Douglas, seconded by Knipe to close the budget hearing and return to regular session at 7:07 p.m. Motion carried 6-Aye, 0-Nay, 1-Absent

A motion was made by Bollin, seconded by Boyles to approve the 2006-2007 budget as presented. Motion carried 6-Aye, 0-Nay, 1-Absent

A motion was made by Douglas, seconded by Bollin to approve the August 21, 2006 open session minutes as amended. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Bollin, seconded by Boyles to approve the bills as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Knipe, seconded by Bollin to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

Mr. Jim Rich from Carl Sandburg College presented the Envoy Report.

Mr. Ben O’Dell presented the Advisory Committee recommendation.

A motion was made by Knipe, seconded by Boyles to approve hiring Jana Hubbs as Junior/Senior High School English teacher as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Douglas, seconded by Boyles to approve hiring Beth Murphy as Superintendent/Principal secretary as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Bollin, seconded by Knipe to approve hiring Chris Dorch as Junior/Senior High Clerk as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Knipe, seconded by Douglas to approve hiring Mary Trent as Junior/Senior high school aide as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Bollin, seconded by Knipe to approve hiring Ellen Hundt as an Elementary aide as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Snyder, seconded by Boyles to approve the EDUNET contract with Carl Sandburg College as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Douglas, seconded by Bollin to approve early graduation for DeAnna Protsman as presented. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Bollin, seconded by Douglas to approve the bargaining agreement between the Nauvoo-Colusa Education Association and the Board of Education contingent upon review by the attorney and the negotiating team. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Douglas, seconded by Knipe to go into Closed Session to discuss performance and negotiations at 8:36 p.m. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Bollin, seconded by Boyles to come out of Closed Session at 9:48 p.m. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay

A motion was made by Knipe, seconded by Boyles to adjourn at 9:50 p.m. Motion carried 7-Aye, 0-Nay
