Hi! My name is Melissa Bolton and I am so excited to be teaching at
Nauvoo-Colusa School!

This will be my ninth year teaching, which range
from preschool up to eighth grade. This is my third year teaching
preschool and I have found this age group so rewarding to educate!

In our class we will be focusing on many areas such as fine motor
skills, which help improve small-muscle development and hand-eye
coordination.   Examples of these are using scissors, crayons, puzzles,
and manipulatives.

We will also work on cooperation and sharing, which
will include working together on projects as well as together in our
classroom in different center areas.   Storytime and dramatic play will
be explored, which will help the children develop an appreciation and
enjoyment of literature.

We will also be exploring science and how it
works in our world. Sand and water activities will be used to promote
the development of math, science, language, and lots of fun. Gross
motor skills will be developed by running, jumping, balancing, as well
as playing on the playground.

Art activities will be created, along
with a love for learning and a great transition to kindergarten.
Field trips, parent nights, and parties will be included in our
program throughout the year.

Parent involvement is encouraged in or
out of the classroom. Conferences and home visits will be implemented
in our program to help the children become more comfortable with the
teacher as well as the teacher and parent to get to know each other
better.
