I teach a semester long course for grades seven and eight. The students are introduced to many basic concepts of visual art with an emphasis on drawing and painting. I try to include a wide variety of methods and materials, including pottery,and set design. The focus of the course is more about teaching students to see and think creatively while increasing ability level through practice. Technical ability is not  strongly emphasized at this level and projects are designed so that all can succeed.
