Physical Education is the equal distribution of all sports at all grade levels with an emphasis on "life-time" recreational activities.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "The world belongs to the energetic."
Energetic people are vibrant and alive. They are not just physically alive, but they are emotionally strong and intellectually stimulating. Here at NCJHS the Physical Education program introduces a wide range of physical activities that stress hand-eye coordination, body movement, space, skill, and team play. Basic game type activities will be introduced that are both fun, highly motivated and taught to help create an interest and maintain physical fitness throughout one's life.
HEALTH
"If you imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it".
William Arthur Ward
Young people today have the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives than earlier generations because of better nutrition, improved sanitation, widespread use of vaccines and antibiotics, and highly sophisticated surgical techniques. Yet, the rate of mortality among teens due to substance abuse, suicides and homicides accounts for over 80% of all deaths. The Health Program for Junior High has been designed to help students identify the right choices in meeting the problems that today's youth will face. Through classroom participation, class projects, and guest speakers, students will learn that good health habits can improve the way they look, how they perform in school, the way they interact with those around them, how they feel about themselves, and the information needed to help them make responsible and knowledgeable decisions in everyday life. To listen closely to their own body, mind, and emotions.
