This is our first year for junior high Spanish classes so we are all learning something new together. The students sign up for a semester of Spanish and experience some of the basics of the language and of the culture. They have learned to greet one another, to discuss the weather, and to talk about food and clothing. They've tried their hand at making churros y chocolate and at creating yarn art. Hopefully, they've learned enough to help them decide whether or not they want to enter high school and take a whole year of a foreign language.

The eighth grade English students study grammar, literature, and writing. Their work includes writing poetry, narrative essays, persuasive essays, and expository essays as well as writing in the style of selected authors. They also improve grammar and writing skills by logging onto Study Island where they can test themselves and work to improve their own weakest areas. They work hard to prepare themselves to enter high school where they will continue to be challenged to succeed.
