I am the 3rd grade teacher at Nauvoo-Colusa Elementary.  I teach
reading, spelling, grammar, science, social studies, and math.  Our
focus in reading is to increase the student's comprehension and
fluency through a variety of literary genres.  In science we cover the
Life, Earth, and Physical Sciences, and if we have time we introduce
Space and Technology.  As part of our science curriculum, every
January, my students enjoy learning about our national symbol the Bald
Eagle.  We finish out our unit with a visit to Keokuk's Bald Eagle
days.  In social studies, we learn about our communities.  Math finds
us learning place value, addition and subtraction with greater
numbers, measurement, geometry, data and probability, and
multiplication and division.  Third grade is a big transition year in
student's lives.
