My duties at both schools consist of the medical care of the students and staff; overseeing the distribution of all over the counter and prescription medications. Maintaining signed permission slips for all medications from parents or guardians. Keeping accurate medical records both paper and computer files, including physicals and sports physicals and immunizations. Ordering and maintaining all medical supplies sending data and reports to Illinois Board of Education. 

I teach on several health related issues, hygiene, smoking, drinking, nutrition, etc. At the elementary school I have initiated the Mobile Dentists Program. Because of grant monies they are here once a year. This helps children with or without insurance; it allows parents to comply with required dental examinations for grades kindergarten, 2nd and 6th. I also collect and distribute coats, hats, and gloves for those who are in need or who forgot to wear to school. 

I keep in contact with the state and county health departments, regarding communicable diseases, and requirements of each. I research health and safety issues on the internet. I’m always happy to take calls from parents and students regarding health questions or concerns.
